Cleaning Gold rings without gemstones.
Method 1: Use a DIY Cleaner
Things you will need
- Aluminum wrap
- Salt (clears away dirt and debris)– 1 tablespoon
- Baking soda (help clean the metal) – 1 tablespoon
- Dish soap (helps loosen accumulated dirt) – 1 tablespoon
- Water (hot) – 3 to 4 tablespoon
Steps
- Cover a bowl with aluminum foil.
- Add 1 tablespoon each of salt, baking soda and dish soap to the bowl.
- Now, add 3 to 4 tablespoons of hot water and watch the liquid fizz
- Soak your jewelry in the cleaner for 10 minutes.
- Grab an old toothbrush and gently scrub your object
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Method 2: Use Toothpaste(Avoid teeth whitening toothpaste)
- Squeeze a small amount of toothpaste into a bowl.
- Pour in a generous amount of water, just enough to form a thick solution.
- Soak an old toothbrush in the solution, then gently scrub the jewelry.
- Rinse it off with water to remove any residue of the solution on your object.
Cleaning silver jewerly/diamonds and Gold rings with germstones
You know it makes your windows sparkle, but did you know Windex can do the same thing for your jewelry? Windex is safe for gold and silver jewelry.It can also be used on diamonds and hard gemstones. However, do not use it on emeralds, coral, opals, pearls, amber or turquoise.
Things needed
- You will need windex, a glass, and an old toothbrush.
Steps
- Take water,Fill it up about 2/3 of the way.
- Then place water in microwave to get it hot, not quite boiling(Almost 30 seconds)
- Careful take it out and then add Windex to you will see the water will bubble.
- Drop your rings in while it is still hot,let it set at least 1/2 hour.
- Then use an old soft toothbrush brush and brush gently under the stone too.
Rinse off with cold water and pat dry with cotton cloth.
NOTE:
- Scrub the jewelry with the baby toothbrush or an old toothbrush
- Avoid cleaning gold with paper towels, as it contains small wood fibers that can scratch the metal
